There's video which shows that the 17-year-old gorilla was actually protecting the young boy once he fell into his home, and was even seen holding his hand.

Numerous observers at the zoo say Harambe was being defensive of the young man, due to all the shouting and yelling going ahead above them.

Cincinnati Zoo Director Thane Maynard says one the shouting began, the gorilla became agitated - turning it into a ‘life threatening situation. We all need to work to make sure our families are safe. Do you know any four-year-olds? They can climb over anything.
